Temperature Controlled With Precision
Thermal control systems are essential for verifying the impact of extreme and volatile environmental conditions on space-bound hardware. With 30-plus years of industry experience behind us, Dynavac provides sophisticated thermal control technologies to obtain precise and accurate test results needed for today’s most challenging programs.
Systems for a Dynamic Range of Temperatures
Dynavac offers thermal control strategies to support a variety of test profiles. Our engineers provide support in selecting the best solution by analyzing several factors such as operating range, ramp rate, uniformity, and heat load generated from the test article.
|Flooded Liquid Nitrogen||-190C|
|Circulating Gaseous Nitrogen||-180C to 150C|
|Mechanical Refrigeration||-50C to 125C|
|Gaseous Helium||As low as 20K|
|Radiant heating options||Up to 200C|
Dynavac Gaseous Nitrogen Thermal Conditioning Units
The use of gaseous nitrogen to control hardware enables precise, stable control of hardware over a wide temperature range. Dynavac Gaseous Nitrogen Thermal Conditioning units operate from -180C to 150C using a closed-loop, forced convection method that provides efficient operation for long-term testing.
Dynavac’s TCU’s are available with 100, 400, 500, 1000, 1500 cfm blowers. They can be purchased as a stand-alone unit or integrated into a Dynavac system. See our TCU product sheet for specifications.
Ask us about our new Model TCU-100-HP unit which provides high-efficiency operation for hardware with small diameter extrusion and supply lines. The unit features a Dynavac high pressure blower that enables operation from -180C to 150C and is also equipped with an auxiliary LN2 zone for operation at -196C.
Complete Line of Thermal Control Hardware
Using proven design and manufacturing methodology, Dynavac’s thermal control hardware provides precision performance and reliability during critical test periods. We offer a variety of standard sizes and configurations or we will build to your drawings.
- Cold plates
- Contamination plates
- Scavenger panels
Hardware is constructed using materials with excellent thermal conductivity and can that withstand extreme temperature fluctuations. Our selection of extrusions supports most any type of thermal flow requirements. After construction, hardware is thermally cycled followed by helium leak testing to assure vacuum integrity. Final cleaning and packaging ensure efficient contamination-free installation.
High Emissivity Coatings
Dynavac uses several high emissivity paints and coatings on its cryogenic hardware to optimize thermal exchange with the test article. Coatings are selected for specific applications based on several characteristics:
- Emissivity/absorptivity values
- Temperature range
- Outgassing rate
- Ease of application and cure cycle
Paints are applied in our state-of-the-art finishing facility using proven application procedures to ensure good adhesion, thickness control, and thermal performance.
